Middlesex Hospital collaborates with Clearway Health to open speciality pharmacy

Middlesex Hospital in Middletown, US, has partnered with Clearway Health to establish the Middlesex Hospital Specialty Pharmacy, marking the health system’s inaugural retail and specialty pharmacy.
This pharmacy officially opened on the lower level of the Middlesex Health Cancer Center, Connecticut.
It is expected to ensure patients across Middlesex County and along the Connecticut shoreline have access to essential speciality medications.
While Middlesex Hospital delivers inpatient pharmacy services to those hospitalised in Middletown, the newly established speciality pharmacy caters to outpatients.
Additionally, the facility offers retail pharmacy services for Middlesex patients impacted by the recent closures of retail pharmacies in the region.
Middlesex Health president and CEO Vincent Capece Jr said: “Today, Middlesex Hospital celebrates the launch of our first speciality pharmacy, a key step in enhancing the convenience and accessibility of care for our patients.
“Managing complex or chronic health conditions can be overwhelming, and many patients face challenges when accessing the medications they need. This new speciality pharmacy will reduce financial burden and improve the patient experience.”
Comprehensive patient-centred care being provided by the pharmacy encompasses specialised medication education and clinical support, refill reminders, affordable prescriptions with prior authorisation, medication adherence assistance, home delivery services, and co-payment support.
These services are designed to optimise medication delivery and minimise barriers to accessing care.
