Children’s National Hospital, based in Washington, D.C., earned accreditation for its specialty pharmacy services from URAC, an independent accreditor that sets national standards for quality and patient safety.
This marks the second URAC accreditation for Children’s National, which previously received recognition for its telehealth services, according to a July 2 new release from the hospital. The specialty pharmacy accreditation reflects the hospital’s compliance with national benchmarks for clinical quality, patient safety and operational infrastructure.
Children’s National worked with Clearway Health, a pharmacy services firm, on meeting accreditation requirements. Christopher Wilson, PharmD, senior director of pharmacy operations at Clearway, said the recognition signals the hospital’s ability to care for children on specialty medications while maintaining high standards for oversight and readiness.
